What Were They Thinking - Pittsburgh Steelers

I know these are 1934 throwback uniforms but how did anyone every think they were a good idea? He looks like an inmate that tangled with a bumble bee. I can not even imagine having to look at these while playing for 4 quarters, they hurt my eyes.

Game of the Week - #5 Notre Dame vs. #8 Oklahoma

I really wish I was in Norman, Oklahoma this week. # 5 Notre Dame is taking on # 8 Oklahoma. It's been almost a decade since Notre Dame has even had a remote shot at the National Championship. It will be a battle of one of the best Defenses in the country versus one of the highest scoring offenses. I am expecting one hell of a game.

The Notre Dame Football program has been rather disappointing since 1996 when Holtz finished his tenure as the head coach. He coached for 11 seasons and left the school with a record of 100 wins and 30 losses. I personally think the program went downhill the moment Lou Holtz was forced out and Bob Davies took over. Till this day I still have trouble watching ND games in which Bob Davies is commentating. Thankfully 2001 was Davies fifth and last season. His won/loss was 35-25 and does not accurately reflect the damage he did to the program in my opinion. ND then hired George O'Leary, but he did not coach a single practice or game and resigned five days after for misrepresenting his academic credentials. Obviously Notre Dame did a very thorough background check. Next up, Ty Willingham. He started to turn around the program, but not fast enough for the rich alumni so they fired him and brought in Charlie Weis. Willingham was forced out after only 3 seasons and left the school with a 21-15 record. In 2005 Weis' immediate success could be greatly attributed to the phenomenal recruiting Willingham did. 2003 was one of ND's 10 best recruiting classes of all time. Big names such as Brady Quinn (Chiefs), Maurice Stovall (Jaguars), Tom Zbikowksi (Colts) , Jeff Samardzija (pitcher for the Chicago Cubs), Trevor Laws (Rams), Ryan Harris (Broncos), John Carlson (Vikings) and Chinendune Ndukwe (free agent but played for the Bengals and Raiders). Before coming to ND Weis had a very successful stint as the Offensive Coordinator of the New England Patriots, during which they won 3 Super Bowls. Weis did an okay job as head coach at ND, but I think his efforts would have been better suited in a different capacity. Head Coach at ND proved to be a bit too much for him. He left in 2009 (basically an early buyout by the alumni) after coaching for 5 seasons with a record of 35-27. That brings us to current Head Coach Brian Kelly. Kelly worked his way up the college football ranks head coaching at Grand Valley State, Central Michigan and Cincinnati. In his 3rd season Kelly seems to have righted the ship and ND seemingly has returned to its old self as one of the winnings schools of all time in college football. As a lifelong ND fan I hope great things are ahead for us for a long time to come.

Interesting facts from the attached article,

- The Irish Defense has allowed only 6 TDs this season

- Notre Dame has won eight Associated Press national championships, one more than Oklahoma

- The Irish rank third in all-time victories with 860. The Sooners are sixth with 826.

- The saying "Play Like a Champion Today" (ND players tap the sign every time they pass it on the way out to the field) originated in Oklahoma with Bud Wilkinson in 1947

- The teams have played 9 times prior. The first time in 1952 and the last in 1999, but this is the fifth time both schools come into the game ranked in the top 10. In the four prior games in which the teams both ranked in the top 10 ND won.

- The most famous matchup was in 1957 when ND came into Norman and won 7-0 ending Oklahoma's 47 game winning streak

ESPN will be broadcasting College Game Day from Norman, OK this weekend. This looks to be a great game between 2 teams with a storied history.

Week 7 Recap

Brief summary of the best games of the week in my opinion. But I am just a girl,  so what do I know.

Seahawks/49ers – Not very high scoring as both defenses are outstanding this year. In the end the 49ers managed to put a few more points up than the Seahawks and took the win. Russell Wilson had a poor showing, 9/23 for 122 yds and 0 tds and Alex Smith was slightly better throwing 14/23 for 140 yds and but managed 1 td. Both team’s top rushers and passers put up nearly identical stats, so Smith’s 1 td was pretty much the deciding factor.  Interesting fact (or funny depending on how you look at it), when Harbaugh declined the Safety at the end of the game he apparently swung $75 million of bets in Vegas. I have never watched a coach decline a safety before, but I guess Harbaugh didn’t want to risk the Seahawks getting the ball back and the chance to score. Seahawks 6 – 49ers 13

Saints/Bucs – Jonathan Vilma played in his first game of the season (despite being suspended the whole season in Bountygate). His mere presence seemed to provide somewhat of a spark to the team. Josh Freeman threw for a career-high 420 yards and three touchdowns for the Bucs (2-4), who scored on their first three possessions of the game to build a 21-7 lead but in the end it was not enough to hold off the Saints. Bucs had a few opportunities to score at the end but failed to score. The Saints D gave up 513 yds total offense but somehow the Saints managed to win the game. Brees was 27/37 for 377 yds and 4 tds. Week 8 sees Assistant head coach Joe Vitt returning from his suspension to interim head coach. Saints 35 – Bucs 28

Giants/Redskins – What a game! The last 2 minutes were insane. I cannot tell you how excited I was to go to this game and see RGIII play in person. I am a Giants fan but I also love watching great football. RGIII did not disappoint. He is even faster, more elusive and electrifying to watch in person. He is going to be a pain in the Giants butts for years to come. As of the end of week 7 RGIII lleads the NFL in completion % (72.7), yds per attempt (11.7) and Total QBR (98.8) when facing 5 or more pass rushers. You know a player is great when Osi has nothing but great things to say about you. In the end it was Eli “Comeback King” Manning hooking up with Victor Cruz for another unbelievable pass and reception for a TD to win the game with a 1:13 left. Redskins got the ball back but Chase Blackburn had his 2nd forced fumble of the game and the Giants recovered the ball to end the game. Manning ended the day 26/40 for 337 yds and 1 td, RGIII was 20/28 for 258 yds and 2 tds and he also ran 9 times for 89 yds. Giants 27 – Redskins 23

Jets/Patriots – Well the Jets managed to play better vs. the Patriots than I expected. From what I saw of the game, the Jets probably could have won it if Sanchez could get his act together in the redzone. It’s like the redzone is his kryptonite. He gets about 20 yds from the end zone and suddenly starts making stupid mistakes, throwing horrible interceptions, taking unnecessary sack and a bevy of other mistakes. Not sure what happened to the Sanchez of 2 years ago but he seems to be regressing instead of progressing. Tebow had little impact in the game. Jets lost this one in OT. Jets 26 – Patriots 29

Notable Transactions
-          Sean Lee ILB on the Cowboys, their best defensive player by far and vastly underrated, has been placed on IR with a foot injury. Should make things a bit easier for the Giants this week.
-          Carolina Panthers placed MLB Jon Beason on the IR for the 2nd time in 2 years. Bet Carolina is really happy they signed him to the big contract.
-          Scott Fujita, LB on the Cleveland Browns and a star of Bountygate, has been placed on the IR with a season ending and possibly career ending neck injury
-          Skins released RB Ryan Grant after a short stint in DC. Have to wonder if his career has come to an end
-          Panthers also fired general manager Marty Hurney. Suppose someone has to take the blame for their abysmal play this year. Perhaps it was put in Cam’s suggestion box to fire him
-          Skins resigned TE Chris Cooley after cutting him in preseason after Fred Davis was place on IR with an Achilles injury
-          Chargers placed PK Nate Kaeding on injured reserve and will most likely cut him once healthy

 Observations
-          Without Ray Lewis, and even with the Suggs back, the Ravens D looked lifeless and lost. The Ravens Offense is going to have to step it up if they expect to make the playoffs this year
-          Jay Cutler is much, much tougher than people give him credit for. I have no idea how he came back into the game, let alone got up after the brutal yet legal hit from Suh. Much respect.
-          The Lions D is playing great; unfortunately the same cannot be said for their offense and definitely not about their special teams. What has happened to Matt Stafford???? Poor Megatron, only so much he can do if Stafford cannot get the ball to him.
-          Peanut Tillman is amazing
-          Brady Quinn has been named the new starter of the Chiefs. On a positive note for him I am pretty sure expectations are low for him as Cassel has set the bar pretty low this season.
-          Cam Newton is looking for suggestions on how the Panthers can turn things around.
-          Matt Hasselbeck will be starting again this week for the Titans with Locker still out with a dislocated shoulder.

Well I guess that is all for now. Should I think of anything else I will be sure to update.

Till then

Look of the Day - Rachel Weisz in Chanel Couture

I am envious of Rachel Weisz for many reasons. First, she gets to wear this exquisite Chanel Couture dress gown from the Fall 2012 collection to the premiere of Sky Fall. I was lucky enough to see the gown in person and this picture does not do it justice; it's stunning. Love that she went with a simple braided updo and paired it with minimal jewelry letting the gown be the center of attentions. I wish I could find a close up picture of the embellished mid-section of the gown, it's breathtaking. Second, I am extremely jealous that she gets to be married to Daniel Craig "aka" James Bond. He is quite possibly the hottest ginger aside from Prince Harry. Lucky lady indeed.

Words for Thought – Dr. Seuss Edition

Dr. Seuss was probably a part of most of our childhood’s growing up. I remember loving his books as a child and never being able to get enough of them. Perhaps it’s because when you are a child the world is your playground and his stories were magical and inspired our imaginations. He was all for having the confidence to be yourself and being the best you that you could be.  That if you believe in yourself you could be anything or do anything you want. I think sometimes as adult’s we forget these simple lessons.  Below are some of my favorite quotes from a number of his books.

“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living; it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.”

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”

“All alone! Whether you like it or not, alone is something you'll be quite a lot!”

“Only you can control your future.”

“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.”

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”

Look of the Day - Olivia Palermo

J'adore. Somehow Olivia is pairing 3 different prints which is usually a fashion no-no, but somehow she still looks fabulous. I think it works so well because she sticks to a black and white palette with subtle metallic accessories that complement the outfit instead of competing with it.  I am dying over her Manolo's and  frame clutch.

Week 6 Recap – What a week!

Week 6 was full of surprises and excitement, from the Giants annihilating the 49ers, to the shocking 2nd half comeback by the Broncos, to RGIII’s awe inspiring 76 yd touchdown run.

Here is my recap of the best games of week 6 –

Giants/49ers – Who would have predicted that the Giants would have annihilated the 49ers in the fashion they did, not me. Manning was 15/28 for 193 yds and 1 td, Bradshaw rushed 27 times for 116 yds and 1 td. Prior to this game the 49ers had not allowed a 100 yd rusher in 22 games. Tynes help put up 12 pts kicking 4 FG’s while David Aiker’s was only 1-3.  Smith, who except for the Minnesota game, had been looking pretty good all season. The Giants Defense, especially the secondary and pass rush proved to be too much for him. He threw 3 interceptions, 2 passes picked off by Antrel Rolle and 1 pass picked off by Price Amukamara.  He  and Kaepernick combined were sacked 6 times for a loss of 48 yards. Eli, well the Giants O-Line has been holding up quite well as of late and has only allowed him to be sacked 1  time in the last 5 games. Phenomenal compared to last year and all the hits he was taking. I am a huge Harbaugh fan and have been since his days at Stanford, but he was simply outcoached and his team outplayed last Sunday. G-men 26 -  49ers 3

Jets/Colts – I still believe it is Tebowtime for the Jets. Sanchez managed to put up 2 tds but was a measly 11/18 for 82 yards. I hope he will be buying a nice gift for Shonn Greene this week because his stellar performance managed to mask Sanchez's inefficiencies and bought him another week as the starter. Shonn Greene looked better than he ever has, finally, rushing 32 times for 161 yards and 3 tds.  The best play of the game aside from Greene’s tds was Tebow’s (as usual). On 4th and 11 from the Colts 40, Tebow lined up as the punt protector, took the direct snap and threw a jump pass to linebacker to LB (yes a linebacker) Nick Bellore, who took the ball 23 yds for a first down.  Andrew Luck did not have a stellar performance throwing for 50% completion and 0 tds; he also took quite the beating. Every time I looked he was getting knocked down HARD.  Jets 35 – Colts 9

Lions/Eagles – Stafford is my fantasy QB and believe me, I was cursing him all first half, but he more than made up for it in the second half rallying the Lions to an OT win over the Eagles. He looked like 2 completely different QB’s, perhaps he could just keep playing more like the 2nd half QB we have all come to know and love over the last year. At the end of the day he was 22/45 for 311yds and 1 td. Lions run game is still lackluster. Jahvid Best has been out for 1 year with the same concussion (note he did have 2 major concussions within 1 week while at UCLA) and Mikel Leshoure is not really filling the void.  Vick’s performance was all over again. He put up similar number to Stafford’s except he had an additional td, but he also threw 2 interceptions and botched a snap that led to a fumble. Lions did not allow Stafford to get sacked once; Vick on the other hand was sacked 3 times for a loss of 25 yards. The Eagles scoring offense is 31st in the league and their scoring defense is 13th and overall their defense is 12th…..so what does Andy Reid do? He fires his defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. First, why he ever appointed his O-line coach his Defensive Coordinator is beyond me, there is no logic to it. Perhaps Andy should look more at himself, his QB coach and his Offensive Coordinator because they should be taking much more of the blame than Juan Castillo. Just my opinion. Lions 26 – Eagles 23

Ravens/Cowboys – I always love seeing the Cowgirls lose. They always have so much talent on paper but can never seem to put it all together. Romo actually looked pretty decent in this game, but the rest of the team was outplayed and the whole team was outcoached (poor clock management). Jason Garret’s days seem numbered. Sad news, Ray Lewis looks to most likely be done for the season with torn triceps. They have put him on the IR, but marked for return. Guess Harbaugh is hoping that if they make it to the playoffs or superbowl he will be ready to comeback. When I think of the Ravens I think of Ray Lewis, he is the face of the team and has been from day 1 when he was drafted from Miami by the first Ravens team. His pre-game speeches are legendary as is his leadership on the field and off. He will be hard to replace. Ravens also lost CB LaDarius Webb to a torn ACL (seemingly another ACL epidemic this year). Ravens 31 – Cowboys 29

Seahawks/Patriots – Patriots lose!!! Russell Wilson has now beat Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers (only on the books) and Tony Romo, not too shabby for a 5’10, 3rd round draft pick who went into camp 3rd on the depth chart.  Seahawks 24 – Patriots 23

Vikings/Redskins – Redskins and RGIII had their best game yet this season. RGIII is on pace to throw for 3,500 yards and rush for 1,000. Griffin was 17-22 for 182 yds and 1 td passing and rushed 13 times for 138 yards and 2 tds. The highlight of the game was his 76 yd td run. It was sick. He basically ran the last 40 yds in 4 seconds. In comparison he ran an incredible 4.41 40 yd dash at the NFL Combine. In all it took him 9.6 seconds to run almost 80yds in full pads, uniform and constantly turning to see if defenders were coming and he made it look so easy. RGIII for Rookie of the Year. See the run and stats (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/20568428/robert-griffin-ran-a-43-40-during-sundays-game-winning-touchdown-run)

Update: I forgot one!

Boncos/Chargers - Don't call it a comeback, he's been here for years. Peyton Manning with another one for the books. Bronco's were dominated by the Chargers the first half, heading into halftime down 24-0. I have no idea what was said by John Fox at halftime but it must have been one hell of a speech. Manning and the Broncos came out and scored 35 unanswered points and intercepted Philip Rivers 4 times,  2 of which were returned for touchdowns. Not sure if it was as much of an Epic Comeback as it was an Epic Fail. Whatever it was it was entertaining as always to watch Manning orchestrate yet another unbelievable comeback. The Sheriff is returning to his old self and all is right in the NFL. Broncos 35 - Chargers 24
That’s all for now!!

Till next time

What was she thinking? - Kim Kardashian

Not sure where to start here. Everything is wrong with her outfit. The shirt is completely inappropriate for someone of her age and with her chest size, the belt is ugly, the skirt is about 2 sizes too small and is causing her to have muffin top and is a horrible color. For someone with her money she looks a bit like a high class prostitute. The only nice things I can say is her hair and makeup looks pretty and I like her shoes, just not with her outfit.

Week 5 Recap

Brief recap this week of the highlights of week 5.

Only 2 undefeated teams left, the Falcons and Texans. Arizona lost to the Rams 17-3. Kevin Kolb definitely silenced the haters saying he is not tough enough; he stood in the pocket and took sack after sack 9 times. His O-line will definitely not being getting any gifts from him this year. St. Louis lost Danny Amendola yet again to a possible broken collar bone. Big blow as aside from Steven Jackson he is their best offensive weapon.

There is 1 team 0-5, the Cleveland Browns. They may be the best 0-5 team I have even seen. All 5 have been close and well played by Cleveland. For a (29 year old) rookie, Weeden is playing pretty well. Have to figure one of the weeks they are going to get a win. This week they lost to the Giants. They got off to a fast start 14-0 but the Giants rallied to come back to win with an outstanding 2nd half. Victor Cruz had another phenomenal week with 3 td’s and Ahmad Bradshaw looked unstoppable with 30 carries for 200 yards and 1 td. Hopefully the Gmen can keep up the same production this weekend vs. the 49ers.

Drew Bree’s threw for 4 tds breaking Johnny Unitas’ century old record for td’s thrown in consecutive games in his 48th consecutive game. Great moment for a great QB and person. Also nice to see the Saints finally get their first win beating the Chargers 31-24.

Packers fell to the Colts who rallied in an emotional win for the HC Chuck Pagano, who is being treated for Leukemia. Andrew Luck seems to be living up to the big expectations laid upon him being drafted #1 overall.  Great game for veteran Reggie Wayne as well, 13 receptions for 212 yds and 1 td. Not sure what is going on with the Packers this season. I suppose Rodgers could only mask the deficiencies of his O-Line for so long. Rodgers himself had a great game, 21-33, 243 yds, 3 tds. Sadly the Packers run game is so atrocious he was also their best rusher carrying 5 times for 57 yards. Cedric Benson looks to be out at least 8 weeks with the dreaded Lisfranc fracture in his foot. Big blow to their already lackluster run game. Colts 30 – Packers 27

Eagles lost again to the Steelers 14-16. Didn’t see the game but it was hilarious following it on twitter and seeing all the lovely compliments being bestowed upon Michael Vick and the entire Eagles team. Bet those Eagles are real happy they gave Vick that huge contract. Nick Fowles anyone???

RG III left the game vs. the Falcons with his first NFL concussion. Hopefully he learns to adjust his game a bit as I look forward to watching him for years to come. Cousins came in after and looked pretty good for a rookie backup (who never gets first team reps) throwing for 1 nice td but also 2 unfortunate interceptions. Falcons 24 – Redskins 17

Scam Newton is still stinking up the field this season, he was a very unimpressive 12-29 for 141 yds and 0 tds vs. the Seahawks ridiculously good D. I stand by my assertions that once his maturity level and leadership skills are on par with his phenomenal athletic ability he will be a great QB in the NFL. Until then, not so much. Seahawks 16 – Panthers 12

Finally, saving the best for last. I am sorry, but it’s time to talk Tebow. All I ever hear is Tebow cannot throw. Well Sanchez threw for 50% this week with 2 costly interceptions in the redzone. His QBR for the game was 10! He now has the lowest QBR in his first 5 games since JaMarcus Russell, yeah that guy who was the biggest number 1 bust of all time aside from maybe Ryan Leaf. Tebow threw the best deep pass of the game to new receiver Jason Hill who bobbled and dropped the ball. Great throw, horrible receiving. You know that the opposing team thinks so much of your starting QB (Sanchez) when they say they spent 40% of their practice that week preparing for your backup, who up until that point had only taken 12% of the offensive snaps. Just give Tebow a chance for a complete series at least. Tebow at most has played 3 consecutive plays so far this season. On one series Tebow broke free for 13 yds to the 3 yd line. Granted he got stuffed on the next play, but at least let him try and run it in one more time. Nope, Sanchez comes in and throw it in JJ Watt’s direction and he tips the pass. Sanchez looked like he was playing catch with JJ Watt all night, how do you not learn to not throw the ball in his direction when he has been tipping your passes all night?!
Seriously Rex, just give Tebow a complete series to work with and see what he can do. You are confusing both your QB’s and entire offense; no one knows who’s coming in and out and when. Tebow is creating a great series and you pull him for Sanchez, Sanchez starts off a nice series and you pull him for a play for Tebow. CHOSE ONE! Sanchez is for sure the far superior QB physically, but I think he has established he does not have the mental makeup to succeed in the NFL.

It’s Tebowtime!

Till next time

Sad to hear about Alex Karras

So sad to read this, I loved him on Webster. Had no idea growing up he was part of the Fearsome Foursome.

Current obsessions - Leather and Studding

Perhaps it's the rock chick in me, but lately I find myself obsessed with leather accents and stud details. Whenever I am shopping or browsing fashion mag’s I seem to be drawn to all things leather and studded. They make for such great statement pieces, a little goes a long way. Be careful not to overdo it. Probably not a look for everyone, as it takes a certain personality and wardrobe to pull them off.

Below are a few of my latest favorites (both pairs of flats are my newest purchases)

Look of the day - Olivia Palermo

I am going to be honest; I am pretty much obsessed with Olivia's style and would like to ransack her closet. She always looks amazing and has a knack for mixing prints and paring colors so effortlessly. I love how she mixes high and low end brands; you will often see her in Zara and TopShop. You will probably see her a lot as my look of the day.

I am dying over these Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and Narciso Rodriguez dress she is wearing and her sunnies are so chic. Minimalist jewelry as to not compete with the dress and shoes...perfect.

Words for Thought -Broke/Herm Edwards edition

Last night I watched the 30 For 30 documentary "Broke" on ESPN. If you did not watch it yet, I highly recommend you DVR or TIVO it. It details how many athletes are broke by the time their careers are over or shortly thereafter. They interview many former athletes who talk about how they spent their money, who they spent it on and sometimes who took their money. Parts of it are truly heartbreaking. As much as we think these athletes are idiots for blowing through all their money, it makes you wonder if you came from nothing or bad circumstances what would you do if all of a sudden at 21 and you were a multi-millionaire how would you spend the money? It seems too easy to judge when you are not in their shoes.

I have always been a fan of Herm Edwards on ESPN. The former cornerback and coach always seem to have a flair for being very quotable. Well last night in Broke was no exception. Below are some of his great lines from both broke and a rookie symposium where he spoke at in 2011.

Herm Edwards -
"You got champagne taste, but you only got beer money. That's not good!"

"Oh you've got a goal? What's your plan to achieve that goal? Because if you don't have a plan then you don't have a goal, you've got yourself a wish. Don't wish."

“Sign your contract… one car, one house, one piece of jewelry. You get one girlfriend or one wife – not both.”

“You get one piece of jewelry. You don’t need the Mr. T starter set” and “If it’s midnight, get out of there. Nothing good happens after midnight.”

Love you Herm, always telling it like it is.

xoxo

My favorite look of the day - Nikki Reed

I love everything about her look, it demonstrates how you can accessorize wardrobe staples we all have in our closets to create an amazing look. Simple white blouse and great skinnies with standout shoes, leopard clutch and a pop of color necklace. Perfection

Week 4 Recap

Brief Recap of Week 4

Order has been restored, the regular ref’s are back. All is right in the NFL, for now.

Packers/Saints – Sort of breaks my heart to see the Saints 0-4, I love Drew Bree’s as a person and a player. Bounty Gate has done a number on this team. At least they put up a respectable fight against the Packers this week. Bree’s had a good game throwing 35-54 (yes you read that right he attempted 54 passes) for 446 yards and 3 tds. Seems their lack of a rushing game is what did them in, Sproles was the top rusher for NO with 5 carries for 20 yds. Aaron "Discount Double Check” Rodgers looked much better this week, throwing 31-41 for 319 yds. and 4tds. Amazing what you can do when you are not sacked 9 times and are running for your life the whole game. GB was able to put up slightly better rushing numbers with Benson rushing 18 times for 84 yds. In the end GB edged out NO. Packers 28 – Saints 27

Giants/Eagles – I thought the Giants were going to dominate this game but looks like I was wrong. Both teams did not look that impressive. Giants need to improve their running game, your number 1 RB needs to put up more than 39 yards.  Hixon had a great game though 6 receptions for 114 yds. Looks like he is 100% after ACL surgery 2. Manning was the better QB stat wise this game, but Vick actually managed not to turn over the ball for a change this game and Shady McCoy ran all over the Giants and Osi, rushing for 123 yds. Came down to the very end, but Tynes missed a field goal for the win by about a yard or two. Giants 17 – Eagles 19

49ers/Jets – Not much to say here really. The 49ers whooped the Jets butts. Sanchez threw 13-29 for 103 yds. and 0 tds and their top rusher Shonn Greene had 11 carries for 34 yds. Perhaps Harbaugh was trying to demonstrate how Sparano and Rex should be using Tebow in the Wildcat effectively. Colin Kaepernick, Tebow type QB from Nevada, ran for an easy TD in the wildcat. Nothing looked easy for the Jets yesterday. SF rushed 2 players on a punt attempt by the Jets (yes only 2) and they somehow still managed to block the punt and set up the final TD. I know I am biased, but I think the Sanchise should get one more start and if he stinks up the field again then Tebow should get a shot. Someone needs to spark this offense. Final points, looks like the Jets have now also lost their best receiver Santonio Holmes for the season with an undetermined foot injury. Revis is still not on the IR because Ryan wants to keep the door open for his return if they make it to the Super Bowl. This is both baffling and funny. 1) I really do not see them making it to the Super Bowl, 2) who recovers from ACL surgery in 4-5 months???  49ers 34 – Jets 0

Patriots/Bills – Close game the 1st half, 2nd half  Brady and the Patriots dominated despite a nice game for Fitzpatrick. Patriots 52 – Bills 28

Raiders/Broncos – Glimpses of the old Peyton in week 4, 30-38 for 388 yds. and 3 tds. Always enjoyable to watch Peyton when he is having a great game and picking apart D’s. Palmer looked lackluster again for the Raiders. Raiders 6 – Broncos 37

Bears/Cowboys – Romo threw 5 interceptions, he is the only active QB to have multiple 5 interception games. I still give the guy credit; he is very Farve’esque and always trying to make something out of every play. Sometimes you just have to throw it away though. DeMarco Murray looked impressive running and receiving for the Cowboy’s. Dez Bryant not so much, seems to be communication issue with him and Romo. Witten managed not to drop any passes this game which was nice to see for a change this season. Still Cutler and the Bears managed to win this one. Cutler and Marshall are definitely looking like a dynamic duo; Hester is taking on a bigger overall role on the offense in addition to returning kick, and their D looks awesome. Now if only Forte can get and stay healthy the Bears will definitely be a possible Super Bowl contender.

Odds and Ends

3 undefeated teams left, Cardinals, Texans and Falcons. Arizona is by far the biggest surprise of the three. Are they for real??? I love Larry Fitzgerald so for his sake I hope they are.

Steelers look to have Harrison and Polamalu back this week vs. the Eagles. Their absence has definitely been felt by the defense.

Colts head coach has sadly been diagnosed with Leukemia. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery.

Tyler Sash is back from a 4 game suspension for the Giants. They have to 4pm Saturday to either waive a player or put one on IR to make room for him. I have a slight feeling, though I hope I am very wrong, that Hakeem may be going to the IR.
