Week 6 Recap – What a week!

Week 6 was full of surprises and excitement, from the Giants annihilating the 49ers, to the shocking 2nd half comeback by the Broncos, to RGIII’s awe inspiring 76 yd touchdown run.

Here is my recap of the best games of week 6 –

Giants/49ers – Who would have predicted that the Giants would have annihilated the 49ers in the fashion they did, not me. Manning was 15/28 for 193 yds and 1 td, Bradshaw rushed 27 times for 116 yds and 1 td. Prior to this game the 49ers had not allowed a 100 yd rusher in 22 games. Tynes help put up 12 pts kicking 4 FG’s while David Aiker’s was only 1-3.  Smith, who except for the Minnesota game, had been looking pretty good all season. The Giants Defense, especially the secondary and pass rush proved to be too much for him. He threw 3 interceptions, 2 passes picked off by Antrel Rolle and 1 pass picked off by Price Amukamara.  He  and Kaepernick combined were sacked 6 times for a loss of 48 yards. Eli, well the Giants O-Line has been holding up quite well as of late and has only allowed him to be sacked 1  time in the last 5 games. Phenomenal compared to last year and all the hits he was taking. I am a huge Harbaugh fan and have been since his days at Stanford, but he was simply outcoached and his team outplayed last Sunday. G-men 26 -  49ers 3

Jets/Colts – I still believe it is Tebowtime for the Jets. Sanchez managed to put up 2 tds but was a measly 11/18 for 82 yards. I hope he will be buying a nice gift for Shonn Greene this week because his stellar performance managed to mask Sanchez's inefficiencies and bought him another week as the starter. Shonn Greene looked better than he ever has, finally, rushing 32 times for 161 yards and 3 tds.  The best play of the game aside from Greene’s tds was Tebow’s (as usual). On 4th and 11 from the Colts 40, Tebow lined up as the punt protector, took the direct snap and threw a jump pass to linebacker to LB (yes a linebacker) Nick Bellore, who took the ball 23 yds for a first down.  Andrew Luck did not have a stellar performance throwing for 50% completion and 0 tds; he also took quite the beating. Every time I looked he was getting knocked down HARD.  Jets 35 – Colts 9

Lions/Eagles – Stafford is my fantasy QB and believe me, I was cursing him all first half, but he more than made up for it in the second half rallying the Lions to an OT win over the Eagles. He looked like 2 completely different QB’s, perhaps he could just keep playing more like the 2nd half QB we have all come to know and love over the last year. At the end of the day he was 22/45 for 311yds and 1 td. Lions run game is still lackluster. Jahvid Best has been out for 1 year with the same concussion (note he did have 2 major concussions within 1 week while at UCLA) and Mikel Leshoure is not really filling the void.  Vick’s performance was all over again. He put up similar number to Stafford’s except he had an additional td, but he also threw 2 interceptions and botched a snap that led to a fumble. Lions did not allow Stafford to get sacked once; Vick on the other hand was sacked 3 times for a loss of 25 yards. The Eagles scoring offense is 31st in the league and their scoring defense is 13th and overall their defense is 12th…..so what does Andy Reid do? He fires his defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. First, why he ever appointed his O-line coach his Defensive Coordinator is beyond me, there is no logic to it. Perhaps Andy should look more at himself, his QB coach and his Offensive Coordinator because they should be taking much more of the blame than Juan Castillo. Just my opinion. Lions 26 – Eagles 23

Ravens/Cowboys – I always love seeing the Cowgirls lose. They always have so much talent on paper but can never seem to put it all together. Romo actually looked pretty decent in this game, but the rest of the team was outplayed and the whole team was outcoached (poor clock management). Jason Garret’s days seem numbered. Sad news, Ray Lewis looks to most likely be done for the season with torn triceps. They have put him on the IR, but marked for return. Guess Harbaugh is hoping that if they make it to the playoffs or superbowl he will be ready to comeback. When I think of the Ravens I think of Ray Lewis, he is the face of the team and has been from day 1 when he was drafted from Miami by the first Ravens team. His pre-game speeches are legendary as is his leadership on the field and off. He will be hard to replace. Ravens also lost CB LaDarius Webb to a torn ACL (seemingly another ACL epidemic this year). Ravens 31 – Cowboys 29

Seahawks/Patriots – Patriots lose!!! Russell Wilson has now beat Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers (only on the books) and Tony Romo, not too shabby for a 5’10, 3rd round draft pick who went into camp 3rd on the depth chart.  Seahawks 24 – Patriots 23

Vikings/Redskins – Redskins and RGIII had their best game yet this season. RGIII is on pace to throw for 3,500 yards and rush for 1,000. Griffin was 17-22 for 182 yds and 1 td passing and rushed 13 times for 138 yards and 2 tds. The highlight of the game was his 76 yd td run. It was sick. He basically ran the last 40 yds in 4 seconds. In comparison he ran an incredible 4.41 40 yd dash at the NFL Combine. In all it took him 9.6 seconds to run almost 80yds in full pads, uniform and constantly turning to see if defenders were coming and he made it look so easy. RGIII for Rookie of the Year. Update: I forgot one!

Boncos/Chargers - Don't call it a comeback, he's been here for years. Peyton Manning with another one for the books. Bronco's were dominated by the Chargers the first half, heading into halftime down 24-0. I have no idea what was said by John Fox at halftime but it must have been one hell of a speech. Manning and the Broncos came out and scored 35 unanswered points and intercepted Philip Rivers 4 times,  2 of which were returned for touchdowns. Not sure if it was as much of an Epic Comeback as it was an Epic Fail. Whatever it was it was entertaining as always to watch Manning orchestrate yet another unbelievable comeback. The Sheriff is returning to his old self and all is right in the NFL. Broncos 35 - Chargers 24
That’s all for now!!

Till next time

Sassy
