Words for Thought – Dr. Seuss Edition

Dr. Seuss was probably a part of most of our childhood’s growing up. I remember loving his books as a child and never being able to get enough of them. Perhaps it’s because when you are a child the world is your playground and his stories were magical and inspired our imaginations. He was all for having the confidence to be yourself and being the best you that you could be.  That if you believe in yourself you could be anything or do anything you want. I think sometimes as adult’s we forget these simple lessons.  Below are some of my favorite quotes from a number of his books.

“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living; it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.”

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”

“All alone! Whether you like it or not, alone is something you'll be quite a lot!”

“Only you can control your future.”

“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.”

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”
